About ClearBlue
ClearBlue Markets is a global leader in carbon markets, helping clients navigate carbon pricing and offset strategies to drive real climate impact. With offices in Toronto, Amsterdam, and Calgary, our team blends deep policy expertise, trading experience, and technology to support organizations across compliance and voluntary markets. Recognized as Best Advisory by Environmental Finance multiple years in a row, we're a mission-driven company building a collaborative, fast-growing, and people-first culture that balances performance with purpose.
You'll be joining a company in rapid growth mode. That means cross-functional collaboration, curiosity, ownership and care are just as important as technical skill. We value transparency, a first-principles approach, and impact. We're ecstatic to welcome teammates who want to grow with us.
Job Overview
ClearBlue's Advisory business helps industrial emitters manage their carbon positions across compliance and voluntary markets — pairing our award-winning advisory expertise with the ClearBlue Vantage Position Optimization platform. We help clients minimize compliance costs, identify monetization and funding opportunities, model decarbonization pathways, and manage carbon as a financial exposure across multiple jurisdictions and facilities.
We are seeking an Analyst, Advisory to join our team full time from either of our Toronto, Calgary or Amsterdam offices. Our current advisory practice is small, but growing quickly, which means this role carries more breadth and more direct client contact than an analyst position at a larger firm would.
You will be the delivery engine of the team: producing the analysis our enterprise clients rely on and handling compliance support for our clients across the globe.
If you want to learn carbon markets properly — the regulatory detail, the commercial reality, and how clients actually make decisions — this is an unusually direct way to do it. It suits people who want breadth and are comfortable being stretched.
What makes this role unique
- Learn carbon markets at the award-winning advisor in the field — voted Best Advisory by Environmental Finance multiple years running
- In client meetings in your first weeks, not your second year
- Work daily in ClearBlue Vantage, a market-leading carbon intelligence platform
- Working within a small senior team means you learn from people who are close to the work
Key Responsibilities
- Execute the technical work behind our enterprise engagements — carbon position calculations, allocation analysis, forward exposure modelling, and scenario work
- Maintain data integrity in ClearBlue Vantage across your accounts; dashboard accuracy is yours to stand behind
- Support data onboarding and validation during phased client implementations
- Contribute to quarterly Carbon Market Updates & Position Assessments and to decarbonization cost-benefit analysis
- Participate in client meetings and build working-level relationships with client sustainability, finance, operations, and compliance teams
- Monitor regulatory and policy developments across global carbon markets and flag what matters to clients
Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with advanced Excel and comfort working with structured data
- Real attention to detail — our clients make financial decisions based on the positions we calculate
- Clear written and verbal English, and the confidence to speak up in client meetings
- Well organized, able to manage recurring deadlines across several clients at once
- Curious and self-directed — you will be given responsibility early and expected to ask good questions
- Collaborative, and comfortable in a small team where roles are broad rather than narrowly defined
- Driven to improve — you keep questioning how we work and push the technology forward rather than just maintaining the status quo
Experience
- Approximately 2-4 years’ experience in a client-focused consulting role. Experience in carbon or environmental markets, energy, sustainability, commodities, regulatory affairs, or a technical role at a regulated emitter is an asset.
- A working understanding of carbon market fundamentals — how allocation, surrender obligations, and compliance cycles function.
- Strong candidates from adjacent analytical or consulting backgrounds with demonstrable interest in carbon markets are welcome; we will teach you the market
- Any experience with carbon and/or energy commodity transactions, trading, or procurement is an asset
- Proficiency with spreadsheet, database, and AI tools to manage data and support creation of client deliverables is an asset
- Professional fluency in French and/or an additional European language is an asset
Education
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent relevant professional experience
