The voluntary carbon market (VCM) is in the middle of a reset. After a turbulent stretch of falling prices and inconsistent standards, confidence has been shaken—but signs of recovery are starting to emerge. Companies want to support high-quality projects, yet many remain cautious without reliable data to guide decisions.

ClearBlue Markets is answering that call with an expanded VCM Market Intelligence service, anchored by an enhanced Offset Price Discovery (OPD) tool designed to bring clarity and confidence back to the market. Just a day after being named
Best Advisory/Consultancy in Environmental Finance’s VCM Rankings, ClearBlue is pleased to release updates to its core VCM offerings.

Enhancing Market Intelligence for Confident Decisions

“Companies want to support high-quality projects, but without price clarity it's difficult to make confident purchasing decisions,” said Michael Berends, CEO and Co-founder at ClearBlue Markets. “We’ve expanded the power and capability of our existing VCM Market Intelligence service by bundling in our updated Offset Price Discovery tool. In doing so, we are helping accelerate the VCM’s recovery and growth.”

Deeper Analytics and Expanded Data Coverage

The upgraded Market Intelligence service combines broader data coverage with richer analytics, making it easier to link price signals with supply, demand, and credit integrity. Clients can now:

  • Track retirements at the entity level, from large multinationals to smaller firms meeting local carbon tax obligations.

  • Identify credits tagged as eligible for select compliance schemes, highlighting where voluntary action may overlap with regulatory requirements.

  • See which project types are gaining market momentum, supported by standardized registry data mapped to price indices.

New Global Indices and Forecasting Models

ClearBlue has introduced global indices for key project categories—including ARR, IFM, REDD+, Cookstoves, Landfill Gas, and Renewables—paired with forecasting models that extend out to 2035. Article 6 Authorized and CORSIA Phase 1 eligible credits are also flagged, providing a forward-looking view across both voluntary and compliance pathways.

Redesigned Offset Price Discovery Tool

At the center of the expansion is the enhanced OPD tool. It now includes two models:

  • A fundamental model to capture long-term drivers of price.

  • A transitional model to test whether short-term market swings reflect real changes or temporary volatility.

The tool draws on actual pricing data for historical periods, filling gaps with machine learning rather than relying solely on projections. Users can analyze prices at the project ID and vintage level, and view bid, trade, and ask curves side by side. Scenario-based forecasts now extend to 2035, with high, base, and low cases.

Driving Transparency and Climate Investment

For investors, traders, developers, and corporations, these improvements translate into stronger risk management, fairer negotiations, and more accurate valuations. Just as importantly, they help ensure that more capital flows to projects with measurable climate and community benefits.

As Berends noted: “Transparency is the foundation of a credible carbon market. By expanding our VCM Market Intelligence offering, ClearBlue is helping clients gain an advantage with strategic market decisions, ultimately leading to a better, more effective VCM.”
