CAD Trust unifies carbon registry data on a single platform using a common data model, which aims to aggregate all major carbon registry data to enhance transparent accounting in line with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. As an open-source metadata system, it shares information about carbon credits and projects across digital platforms and is in the process of connecting registries worldwide. Its goal is to provide free, harmonised, and user-friendly access to credit data that can be used for benchmarking, double-counting checks, and compliance reporting — all vital to building trust in both voluntary and compliance carbon markets.

The User Forum acts as a market sounding board for CAD Trust’s Council and Technical Committee. Its members — drawn from across carbon market practice, policy, and technical development — advise on use cases, product suitability, and data model improvements. The Forum ensures CAD Trust’s infrastructure responds to the evolving needs of participants and strengthens transparency, interoperability, and innovation in carbon markets.

  • Juan Manuel Cardona-Granda brings over 25 years of experience in forestry and nature-based solutions with a focus in GIS tools and MRV integrity, supporting afforestation, restoration, biodiversity/bioeconomy and community forestry projects that deliver real climate impact.

  • Ivan Cosentino leads the VCM Data Insights suite at ClearBlue, leveraging his carbon markets experience and ClearBlue’s data on policy, markets, trends and transactions for many standards, jurisdictions and registries to help clients navigate the carbon space.

They will bring market and technical expertise to the User Forum, helping guide CAD Trust’s mission of building trusted, interoperable infrastructure for carbon markets.

The voluntary carbon market has experienced a crisis of confidence in recent years due to opaque pricing and questions about quality. But ClearBlue sees 2025 is a reset year, with fresh successes on price transparency, credit integrity, and enhanced buyer satisfaction. CAD Trust’s work supports the VCM by making the market more visible, verifiable, and reliable.

We look forward to continuing the conversation at our September 30 webinar: “The 2025 VCM Reset: Price Transparency, Credit Integrity and Buyer Confidence.”  Register here.
