About ClearBlue Markets
ClearBlue Markets is a global leader in carbon markets, helping clients navigate carbon pricing and offset strategies to drive real climate impact. With offices in Toronto, Calgary, Amsterdam, and Colombia, our team blends deep policy expertise, trading experience, and technology to support organizations across compliance and voluntary markets. Recognized as Best Advisory by Environmental Finance multiple years in a row, we’re a mission-driven company building a collaborative, fast-growing, and people-first culture that balances performance with purpose. You’ll be joining a company in rapid growth mode. That means cross functional collaboration, curiosity, ownership and care are just as important as technical skill. We value transparency, a first principles approach, and impact. We’re ecstatic to welcome teammates who want to grow with us.
Job Overview
We are seeking a collaborative, intellectually curious Business Development Associate to directly support our VP of Advisory in scaling our market presence. In this role, you will be the primary engine behind our Advisory sales efforts, focusing on identifying and engaging regulated emitters across North America. You will be responsible for driving the outbound outreach and prospecting necessary to fuel our advisory pipeline, taking ownership of the early stages of the sales cycle to secure the meetings that drive revenue. Working side-by-side with senior leadership, you will help iterate on sales tactics and proposal development, playing a critical role in building a scalable commercial framework for companies navigating complex carbon compliance obligations.
The role can be based out of either the Calgary or the Toronto office.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Prospecting: Identify and qualify new opportunities exclusively within the regulated emitter landscape (e.g., oil and gas, power generation, and heavy manufacturing).
- Compliance-Driven Outreach: Structure and execute outreach plans that speak directly to the regulatory pain points and compliance deadlines of North American emitters.
- Direct VP Support: Assist the VP of Advisory in preparing technical, compliance-focused proposals that help emitters optimize their carbon positions and long-term strategies.
- Pipeline Engine: Maintain a high-volume activity cadence to ensure a steady stream of qualified leads for the Advisory team.
Skills & Qualifications
- Industry Context: Experience or a strong background in the industrial, energy, or manufacturing sectors is a significant asset. You must be able to speak the language of these clients and feel comfortable engaging with stakeholders across heavy industry.
- Client-Facing Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a professional, client-facing role. You are comfortable managing external relationships and representing the company to corporate stakeholders.
- Outbound Sales & Outreach: Proven track record in "hunter" roles. You have experience building pipelines from scratch through cold calling, cold emailing, and persistent prospecting to reach decision-makers.
- Critical Thinking: Ability to "figure it out" in a growth-stage environment—identifying gaps in processes and suggesting solutions rather than just following instructions.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal skills; you can articulate complex value propositions clearly and persuasively.
- Technical Proficiency: Able to use a variety of tools (HubSpot, GSuite, ZoomInfo, etc)
Application & Selection Process
- Screening: Initial CV screening and HR phone interview.
- Manager Interview: 30-minute in-person meeting with manager (Business Development Lead, North America)
- Final Panel Interview: A 30-minute session with the Business Development Lead and the Chief Commercial Officer. This stage includes an interactive discussion where we will walk through real-business scenarios to explore your critical thinking and approach to growth-stage challenges.
