About Us
ClearBlue Markets is a global leader in carbon markets, helping clients navigate carbon pricing and offset strategies to drive real climate impact. With offices in Toronto, Amsterdam, and Colombia, our team blends deep policy expertise, trading experience, and technology to support organizations across compliance and voluntary markets. Recognized as Best Advisory by Environmental Finance multiple years in a row, we’re a mission-driven company building a collaborative, fast-growing, and people-first culture that balances performance with purpose. You’ll be joining a company in rapid growth mode. That means cross functional collaboration, curiosity, ownership and care are just as important as technical skill. We value transparency, a first principles approach, and impact. We’re ecstatic to welcome teammates who want to grow with us.
Position Overview:
ClearBlue Markets is seeking a talented, driven, and adaptable Carbon Market Intelligence Analyst to join our team in Toronto. Unlike traditional single-market roles, this position offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure across three critical sectors: Clean Fuels, Voluntary Carbon Markets (VCM), and Canadian Compliance Markets.
We do not expect the candidate to be an expert in all three markets on Day 1. Instead, we are looking for a candidate who is adept with data/Excel, eager to learn, and ready to own the reporting workflows that drive our client deliverables.
You will be “in” on the early stages of an exciting and high-profile industry working for a company that is growing by leaps and bounds. You will be able to take pride in creating and maintaining high quality customer-oriented technology solutions. You will work in an environment with high-integrity and proficient colleagues while striking the right balance between working hard and having fun. You will have a place to work that appreciates your technical proficiency, promotes a can-do attitude and a transparent approach to communicating about your work. ClearBlue is an employer who provides you space to be inquisitive and innovative and appreciates ideas towards the betterment of the company and the planet. The role requires you to work 4-days in our Toronto office.
Main Responsibilities:
- Own & produce high-quality reports and data visualizations, including weekly market newsletters, monthly cross-market analysis, and quarterly supply and demand updates. Ensure the accuracy, clarity, and timely delivery of all written materials across the Fuels, VCM, and Canadian markets.
- Manage datasets and pricing databases, ensuring the integrity of market data. Utilize tools such as Excel for quantitative analysis, maintaining price indices, and organizing data inputs from various partners to support the team’s modeling infrastructure.
- Formulate and communicate insights on policy changes, supply-demand dynamics, and price movements. Monitor developments in the Voluntary Carbon Market (e.g., integrity standards like ICVCM, SBTi) and Canadian Compliance markets (e.g., TIER, OBPS) to ensure clients are well-informed.
- Support the development of long-term forecasts by assisting with the maintenance of supply, demand, and price models. Leverage quantitative methods to help the team predict future market dynamics accurately.
- Deliver market updates directly to clients, lead engagements, and confidently answer questions regarding market trends and strategies.
- Conduct thorough research on regulatory frameworks and market mechanisms. Translate technical policy details into actionable summaries that support internal strategy and external publications.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, economics, finance, environmental management, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. You do not need to be a "model wizard," but you must be adept at handling data, navigating complex spreadsheets, and understanding formulas/workflow logic.
- Market Knowledge: Prior knowledge of Carbon Markets (Compliance or Voluntary) is an asset but not required. We are prioritizing candidates with a strong curiosity and an eagerness to learn complex market mechanisms from the ground up.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. You must be comfortable presenting data and eventually leading client interactions.
- Adaptability: Ability to switch contexts between different markets (Fuels, VCM, Canada) and manage competing deadlines for weekly and monthly deliverables.
- Attitude: Positive, highly motivated, and detail-oriented. You take ownership of your work products and look for ways to improve processes.
Application & Selection Process
- Screening: Initial CV screening and HR phone interview.
- Manager Interview: 30-minute video call with the Market Intelligence Manager.
- Written Case Study: A 2-day take-home assignment to extract insights from a dataset and produce a summary report or deck.
- Final Panel Interview: A 1-hour presentation of case results followed by a Q&A with leadership.
